East End/Long Look stages well received mini festival & cultural parade

The Virgin Islands Communal Association (VICA) in association with the East End/Long Look community has successfully staged a mini festival and parade of its own yesterday, August 3, 2022, as part of the 2022 Emancipation celebrations.

VICA’s Melissa Potter who was part of the organizing team said the decision to host the parade was a last-minute one to ensure the culture of that end of the Islands is upheld in some form.

Parade moved through East End/Long Look

The parade moved off from the Major Bay area and proceeded along the main road, into Long Look, and culminated at the Greenland field.

The association had two past Queens from the East End/Long Look community Mrs. Medita Wheatley and Ms. Jennifer Penn, the latter a resident of Texas and is currently in the VI for a Family Reunion.

The event also featured the Prince and Princess 2022 winners along with the Mr and Ms Junior BVI 2022 winners, Parade Marshall Ms. Tjodi Penn Foster, and Mrs. Darlene Smith-Daly, who is also visiting the VI.
