Elderly visitor dies after falling overboard vessel near Peter Island
The police are investigating an incident in which a an elderly visitor died while on a sailing excursion in the territory on Monday, February 7.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said in a brief press statement this morning that the 75-year-old man was “retrieved unresponsive from the water near Peter Island yesterday and was subsequently pronounced dead”.
“Initial inquiries suggest that he fell overboard just after noon while sailing a Moorings yacht,” the RVIPF said.
The police have not released the man’s name nor have they provided any other details of the fatal incident.
