Electric rickshaw bursts into flames near Buckingham Palace
An electric rickshaw caught fire and was completely destroyed near Buckingham Palace, leading to an emergency response but no injuries.
The incident occurred on Saturday, with onlookers reporting an explosion-like sound as the vehicle burst into flames on Buckingham Gate. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which drew attention due to its proximity to a high-security area, sparking brief speculation about its cause.
However, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious, attributing it to a non-deliberate cause.
The road was temporarily closed for safety, and the London Fire Brigade confirmed there were no casualties. The fire was reported at 12.44 pm and resolved by 1.02 pm, with efforts concentrated on a burnt electric trike rickshaw.
