Emancipation 2022: Post pandemic J'ouvert dubbed a major success

The return of J'ouvert for the 2022 Emancipation Celebrations was considered a major success today, August 1, 2022, as hundreds of revelers took to the streets in Road Town, Tortola.

The revelers moved off from the Port Purcell Roundabout and moved through the streets all the way to the back of the Administration Complex with lots of energy and the music blasting in the wee hours of the morning.

As part of the procession, there were three major trucks with music, the largest being the ‘Vibe’ band with the other trucks branded Flow and the CCT.

The revelers started out at around 4:00 am and the procession ended after 8:00 am this morning on Emancipation Day.

While there were a few scuffles along the J'ouvert route, overall, the event was considered to be largely incident free.
