Controversy Surrounds UK's Relationship with the BVI as Guest Host Suggests Intentional Suppression

Controversy Surrounds UK's Relationship with the BVI as Guest Host Suggests Intentional Suppression

The Talking Points radio programme featured a guest host, Maris Hodge-Wright, who suggested that the UK may be intentionally suppressing the BVI due to its advancements in the financial services industry.
Hodge-Wright argued that the UK should face greater scrutiny, as it has a relatively small money laundering footprint, and that the UK's targeting of predominantly non-white Overseas Territories, such as the BVI, is insulting.

Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, Luce Hodge-Smith, agreed that the goalposts are constantly being moved for the BVI in relation to its financial services requirements and responsibilities, but felt confident in the abilities of Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and Deputy Premier Lorna Smith to represent the territory's interests.
