Craig and Lindsay Foreman have been held in Iran since January amid accusations of security-related offences.
The family of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, British nationals held in Iran, has expressed deep concern over their detention and is working with the UK government to secure their safe return.
Reports indicate that the couple, who were traveling on motorbikes around the world, were detained in January and have been accused by Iranian authorities of security-related offences.
Iran's state-run media disclosed the charges this week, raising alarm among the couple's relatives.
A family statement highlighted the distress caused by the situation, emphasizing their focus on the safety and well-being of the Foremans.
"This unexpected turn of events has caused significant concern for our entire family, and we are deeply focused on ensuring their safety and well-being during this trying time," the statement read.
The couple began their journey in Armenia and crossed into Iran on December 30, according to their social media updates.
They had plans to travel onwards to Australia and had shared positive experiences during their time in Iran.
On January 3, Craig Foreman posted on
Facebook, reassuring followers about their adventures and noting the challenges of connectivity due to local restrictions, stating, "To put your minds at rest, we are having the most amazing time in Iran."
Lindsay Foreman, who is conducting a research project on concepts of a "good life," also documented their experiences, including interactions with local individuals.
Previous posts described their journey as fulfilling, with one entry featuring a meeting with a mullah at a madrasa in Isfahan, highlighting the connections made despite cultural differences.
As the situation continues to unfold, the Foreman family remains engaged with relevant authorities to navigate the complexities of securing their loved ones' release.
