Premier Andrew Fahie made that announcement during a national broadcast on Tuesday, stating that the FSI made the decision after seeing previous success in their online delivery programme.

The Premier said he believes the decision to conduct classes completely online may result in the institute generating new interest from across the Caribbean.

“This will also allow the Institute to potentially attract students in other regional jurisdictions,” he stated at the time. “The Institute has also invested in an online testing or proctoring system that enables them to create and implement fully proctored remote examinations using web-camera technology.”

New Principal to improve FSI

Premier Fahie, who is also the Finance Minister, further said the recent appointment of Rose Chapman as the FSI’s Principal Tutor will further enhance the institution’s capabilities with the classes that are being offered.

He said: “The Institute has just appointed as Principal Tutor and AML Programme Manager a top compliance and anti-corruption professional with over 20 years’ experience in legal, regulatory and compliance environments. This will enable us to better support your training and development needs right here in the Virgin Islands.”

What is the FSI?

The FSI is considered the centre of excellence in education and training in the BVI’s financial services industry.

Established in 2002, it is the only professional qualification centre in the BVI that is an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants approved learning partner and an Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators registered tuition provider.
