Financial Services Institute offers accounting scholarship to BVIslanders

The BVI’s Financial Services Institute (FSI) has announced the launch of its fully-funded First Step Scholarship which will be awarded to a BVIslander or Belonger who wishes to pursue a Level II diploma from the international accounting body, ACCA.
The ACCA is the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants which certifies accountants all over the world.

The Level II diploma in Financial and Management Accounting is a first step for persons wishing to pursue accounting studies.

The FSI said, “all institute fees, exam costs, materials and tuition is funded by this scholarship, including support from a local expert professional tutor.”

The FSI also said the scholarship is in line with its mission to support the development of local talent in the financial services industry.

“Recognising the need to evidence knowledge and skills with internationally recognized and benchmarked professional qualifications, and the current economic challenges facing many of those wishing to develop themselves, the FSI is offering a scholarship for any BVIslander or Belonger with the ambition and drive to begin their journey to professional accreditation,” the FSI said in a release.

The FSI also said the Level II diploma in Financial and Management Accounting will give students a grounding in business transactions and management information that will develop technical knowledge they can use to support their professional journey.

Applications for the inaugural scholarship closes on March 26, 2021.

The FSI is located at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College and is responsible for developing the skills needed by the BVI’s financial services industry.
