Fire damages section of R&R Malone Complex in Pockwood Pond

Just over two years after a fire had destroyed a major section of the R&R Malone Complex in Pockwood Pond, the business establishment was hit with another blaze.

According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, the fire took place on Saturday, November 7, 2020, and damaged a section of a building that housed a church.

Unlike the fire of 2018 that had caused two persons to be hospitalised, including a fireman that was injured when a roof collapsed on him, no one was hurt.

Chief Fire Officer, Zebalon A. McLean confirmed the incident to Virgin Islands News Online.

Chief Fire Officer, Mr Zebalon A. McLean said his officers managed to extinguish the fire before it caused extensive damages to the R&R Malone Complex.

"We got called at 11:59am. We got it out at about 2:20pm," Mr McLean said.

Nearly half of the unit that was used as a church was damaged, Mr McLean stated.

The R&R Malone Complex houses several businesses, including a supermarket.
