Five in custody following seizure of 3 illegal firearms
Operations led by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Special Investigations and Criminal Investigations teams have resulted in the seizure of three illegal firearms including a semi-automatic assault rifle and several rounds of ammunition the force has revealed.
As a result, five persons which include four males and one female, are presently in police custody on suspicion of illegal firearm possession the force said in a Friday, September 23, 2022, update.
Police have indicated that the names of the individuals are being withheld until charges are laid.
A series of search warrants carried out on premises in Baughers Bay, Purcell Estate and Great Mountain uncovered the prohibited rifle along with a Glock pistol and handgun.
The RVIPF added that is continuing its effort to remove illegal weapons from the streets.
