Virgin Islands Representative Julian Fraser spoke about the importance of the territory's independence at a memorial service for victims of a tragic fire in Guyana.
Fraser praised the Guyanese people for their resilience and determination in achieving independence nearly six decades ago and encouraged the Virgin Islands
to learn from their example.
He expressed hope that there would be no more tragedies that would bring Guyanese to the Virgin Islands
, instead wishing for them to come for celebrations of independence.
Fraser believes that the Virgin Islands
has the wherewithal and intellect of its people to be as developed as Guyana was 57 years ago and hopes to one day celebrate independence with the Guyanese community.
