Gloves Are Off: Gov't Has Made Rookie Mistakes - Fraser

The gloves are off, as Third District Representative, Hon. Julian Fraser declared that in this new legislative session he is going to be peppering the Government with questions about the people’s business and holding their feet to the fire.
According to Hon. Fraser he was being mild over the past few months with Government who he announced have made some “rookie mistakes”.

Speaking at a press conference that was held on November 13, Hon. Fraser said that things are going to get much more pointed as the government assumes responsibility for all matters including those that were done under the previous administration.

“We still have issues with water…this is a colossal issue that needs to be addressed in full attention of the government. I told my friends on the Government’s side its only a matter of time before you start taking ownership of whatever problems the country has,” Hon. Fraser stated.

Commenting on the fact, that he has not been tough on the Government, Hon. Fraser referred to the past legislative period as vacation mode.

“So far, you’ve (Government) been on a holiday and I am sure you (media) guys have noticed that the government has been on a holiday at least from me, as far as questions are concerned. When I ask this government questions at least for the first session it was to solicit information based on the performance of the prior government,” Hon. Fraser stated.

He added, “Its not this government that I was targeting. I was targeting the former government when I asked questions. Now we’re going into the second session of the House of Assembly and it’s getting to that point where they’re going to have to take ownership for the Territory’s problems.”

In relation to his observation of how the first months in office and by extension the House of Assembly operated for the still new government, Hon. Fraser noted that there were some mistakes.

In explaining what these mistakes were, he said, “I wanna say that what I am observing right now as far as the government is concerned … a series of rookie mistakes. I don’t want to say that its something that I expect to see going forward in the future; and they might be, somewhat being manipulated by some overzealous operative and they’re going to have to take control of the issue.”
