Goodbye Tight Pants? Extra-wide Pants are Trending this Spring

Goodbye Tight Pants? Extra-wide Pants are Trending this Spring

The tight-fitting pants of seasons' past are shrinking leaving room for the latest fashion trend-the wide leg.

Since the heroin chic look of the '00s, pants have been stretching free-rer and free-er over the past few seasons, and now they seem to be reaching new extremes. This season Chloé and Max Mara in particular are paying close attention to wide trousers with a raised waist for Spring/Summer 2021. While shielding legs, the silhouette emphasizes the feminine form by highlighting the waist. Similarly, Fendi, Hermes, and Chanel are too offering a loose-r, silky-ier trouser with a low waistline.

Wide maxi-length pants also dominated New York Fashion Week's recent Fall/Winter 2021 collections. Designer Adam Lippes offered brightly colored wide suit pants, while Victoria Beckham presented wide, high waists in neutral and dark colors. Surely, wide maxi-length pants in different colors and patterns paired with classic jackets will be next season's fashionable combo.
