Gov’t gives Top Priority new tender waiver for security transport

Top Priority Security Services has received yet another tender waiver for security services with the BVI government.
This is according to the most recent post-Cabinet statement issued late last week.

Over the past few years, the tender process has been waived on several occasions for contracts to be awarded to the local security firm, several of which have been done retroactively.

In the release for its February 23 meeting, Cabinet said it decided to retroactively approve a waiver of the tender process to procure security services to provide secured transport services of government funds (revenue).

The release said Top Priority has been collecting funds from various departments and transferring it to the designated bank since the start of the year.

The government said it decided that Top Priority Security Services be contractually engaged for a four-month period starting from January 1 to April 30, 2022 to allow for the completion of the tender process.

The government’s agreement with Top Priority is valued at $100,000.

According to the statement, the government further decided that a 2021 Cabinet decision be amended to reflect the accurate sum of $290,095 paid to Top Priority Security Services and decided that the Ministry of Finance instruct the Attorney General’s Chambers to vet the draft contract.
