Gov’t not looking to track citizens with biological chips – Hon Malone

Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) said that contrary to what is believed in some parts of the territory, the Fahie administration has no intention to track citizens with biological chips.

Hon Malone was at the time speaking on a government piloted Complete Health Improvement Programme (VI CHIP) at the Third Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly on Thursday, November 12, 2020, in Duff's bottom Tortola.

“Over in Jost van Dyke it was being mixed up with a chip that has been talked about to track you... the only chip that we're going to enforce is a Complete Health Improvement Program. That is not a biological or a man-made chip that will go under your skin”

The Minister said using natural ways, the complete help improvement program can help fight off the Novel Coronavirus with vitamins and minerals.

The VI Advantage

“We have the sun, we have the sea, that is a benefit in terms of making this work as the other parts of the world have a clear case of cold weather,” Hon Malone said.

According to the Government Information Service, CHIP is a 10-week course that teaches participants how to boost their health and lead a healthier lifestyle with each session running for approximately two hours.

Public Health Coordinator, Ms Ivy George explained that CHIP was selected by the Government of the Virgin Islands as a community-based intervention programme for improving health, and reducing and preventing the non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

“The main reason the CHIP programme was selected was to provide members of the community who need a roadmap to guide them in a behaviour change lifestyle intervention,” Ms George said.

The Complete Health Improvement Programme (CHIP) teaches participants how to boost their health and lead a healthier lifestyle. The strategy is scientifically based with proven results in preventing, arresting and reversing chronic disease.
