Gov't Offices To Close At 1:00 P.M

Government has stated that the Public Service will close at 1:00 p.m. today, July 29 as the Territory prepares to experience the effects of Tropical Cyclone Nine.
Deputy Governor, Mr. David Archer, Jr. made the announcement to public officers through a Circular on July 28.

“The National Hurricane Centre and Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Territory, and it is expected that we could experience winds and rain from late Wednesday into Thursday," he said.

Mr. Archer, Jr. said that the Governor, Premier and Department of Disaster Management (DDM) have agreed, out of an abundance of caution, to close the physical offices of the Public Service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, while operations will continue remotely for the remainder of the work day.

Regarding the physical reopening of the Public Service, the Deputy Governor encouraged persons to stay tuned to the local radio stations, the DDM’s and the Government of the Virgin Islands’ websites and social media accounts for the latest weather reports and for further information regarding the physical reopening of the Public Service.
