Gov't Tenders For Barge Services

The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting tenders for the barging of waste from East End, Jost Van Dyke to West End, Tortola.
Procurement Coordinator, Mrs. Ishma Rhymer said the proposed works comprise of transporting trash compactor bins and transporting roll on/off bins containing bulky waste from East End, Jost Van Dyke to West End, Tortola once per week.

According to the Government, eligible tenderers are required to submit Certificates of Good Standing from the Director of the Social Security Board, National Health Insurance, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, the Commercial Registry and other entity as outlined in the Tender Document. Tenderers must also provide proof of possession of the minimum of a 100 ton barge required for the job. The required equipment must be in the British Virgin Islands at the time of Tender.

Tenderers must also provide a Tender Bond/Tender Security, not less than 1% of their bid price by way of a bank or accredited insurance company with their tender.

Mrs. Rhymer added, “Bidding documents will be available from Monday, March 15 and would be sent to bidders electronically upon request to procurement@gov.vg with the subject title “Barging of waste from East End, Jost Van Dyke to West End, Tortola.”

Interested tenderers should submit one original and three copies, plus one flash drive containing the bidders documents. The bids should be placed in a sealed envelope marked, “ORIGINAL” and the additional copies placed in another sealed envelope marked “COPIES”. Both envelopes should then be placed in an outer envelope marked “Tender for Barging of waste from East End, Jost Van Dyke to West End, Tortola” and must be received no later than 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20.

A pre-tender meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jost Van Dyke Methodist Church. This will be followed by a site visit and all prospective tenderers are invited to attend.

Tenders will be opened at the Procurement Unit, Ministry of Finance, Qwomar Trading Building #2, 2nd Floor at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 20. All tenderers are invited to witness this process via “Webex” and will be provided with the access code and password prior to the opening.
