Gov’t to meet with taxi operators today, June 30, 2021

As the Virgin Islands prepares to welcome the first passenger cruise ship in more than year, the Celebrity Millennium, on Thursday, July 1, 2021, taxi and livery operators have been invited to a meeting today, Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

The “important industry meeting” is being hosted by the Taxi and Livery Commission at Maria’s by the Sea at 5:00 pm.

Purpose of meeting


According to a bulletin from Government Information Services on June 29, 2021, the purpose of the meeting is to discuss matters related to the resumption of the cruise ship calls to the VI.

It said safety protocols will be strictly enforced and space is limited to the first 50 persons.

According to Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Carvin Malone (AL) on June 29, 2021, cruise ship guests will also be permitted to access tours independently and explore the islands; however, they must follow local public health measures.
