Greece must address role in migrant vessel disaster that killed 600: Amnesty
Amnesty International urges Greece to take responsibility for a 2023 migrant boat tragedy off Pylos, where over 600 died, highlighting its involvement and flawed rescue.
The organization criticizes the ongoing lack of accountability and calls for action ahead of a European Parliament committee meeting. The majority of victims were Syrians, Pakistanis, and Egyptians.
Amnesty also blames Frontex for the botched rescue and insists the EU must enforce rights monitoring on Greece’s border operations to prevent more deaths.
