Greenland resident charged in connection to Sunday’s murder

One man has been apprehended in the fatal shooting incident that happened in Road Town Sunday morning.
Charged with murder, inflicting grievous bodily harm, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life is 37-year-old Hasani Frett of Greenland.

“The deceased, who is still to be identified, along with a female received gunshot wounds at separate locations early Sunday morning. The female is being treated for a wound to the leg at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital. Detectives are asking persons who may know the identity of the male victim to come forward,” the police said in a media release this morning.

Sunday’s fatal shooting marks the second such murder in less than a week. Just days earlier, another man — 42-year-old Yan Edwards — was shot and killed while at a bar in Parham Town, East End.

“For the past week, officers have been making their rounds and conducting stop searches throughout the East End and Road Town Districts in light of the reports of gunfire and the recent murders. Close to 30 persons were searched and quantities of both marijuana and cocaine were recovered. Persons were reported for several traffic violations,” the police reported.

The RVIPF said it is seeking any information that could help with identifying the assailant or assailants in any of the recent murders.

Persons can contact the Crimestoppers tipline anonymously at 800-847-8477 or 284-800-8477. Alternatively, persons can contact 368-9345.
