Gunmen rob De La Santa Bakery & Restaurant in SCB

Tortola, VI- Two gunmen pounced on De La Santa’s Bakery and Restaurant in Sea Cows Bay, Tortola, last evening, January 28, 2021, robbing the establishment of an undisclosed amount of money and also relieved patrons of cash and jewellery.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, at approximately 10:00pm two unmasked but “tightly hooded” men entered the De La Santa Bakery and Restaurant. One of the gunmen allegedly stood guard while the other jumped the counter and took all the cash from the cash register.

The cashier, who reportedly was in the kitchen at the time, allegedly ran out of the establishment and screamed to raise an alarm.

The gunmen then allegedly proceeded to the Charles Chill Spot located to the rear of the bakery and restaurant, where a number of patrons were. They held two of the male patrons by placing a gun to their heads, took off their jewellery and relieved them of cash.

They then allegedly took out the cash pan belonging to the business and the cashier’s handbag, which was nearby, before escaping in an unidentified car.


Two male customers of Charles Chill Spot were relieved of cash and jewellery.

Firearm magazine left behind


During the escape, the gunmen allegedly dropped a firearm magazine with live ammunition in the bar.

Police allegedly subsequently found contents of the cashier’s bag on the premises.

It is our information that CCTV footage is being reviewed for further evidence.
