Hero's Welcome Planned For Carifta Athletes

Hero's Welcome Planned For Carifta Athletes

Junior Minister for Tourism, Hon. Sharie de Castro is taking the lead in the Virgin Islands’ response to the Territory’s 2022 CARIFTA Team’s performance at a ceremony today, April 19.
The team will be officially received with a heroes’ welcome at a BVILove Welcome Event organised by the government to extend their praise and appreciation to the historic CARIFTA team who has finished third on the medals table.

The event is scheduled for at 6 p.m at the Sir Olva George’s Plaza to welcome the delegation who will be arriving through the seaport, with promises of presentations and awards to be distributed at a later date for the athletes who secured medals.

This evening’s celebration organized by Honourable de Castro and the BVI Tourist Board is a continuation of their support to youth and sports, having previously donated $25, 000 to the CARIFTA delegation earlier this month.

Supporters have been reminded to “bring BVI Flags and their BVI Pride” to celebrate the victorious team.
