Hit-and-run? Bicycle rider gets head injuries after crash with scooter

A bicycle rider has suffered head injuries following a collision with a scooter rider last weekend.
The collision reportedly happened along Sir Francis Drake’s Highway near to the C&D Supermarket.

It is reported that the bicycle rider was heading towards Hannahs Estate — where he reportedly lives — when the collision happened.

Police officers and a medical first responder reportedly arrived on the scene and transported the injured bike rider to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital.

Medical personnel later confirmed that the injured bicycle rider suffered head injuries as well as injuries to his arms and legs. BVI News understands that he suffered a fractured ankle.

In the meantime, the scooter rider’s condition is unknown as our news centre was told that he walked away from the scene of the accident before the police arrived.

Recently, Premier Andrew Fahie said the government is concerned about the high costs the public has to incur to care for injured bikers.

He also reminded careless riders that they’ll be at a disadvantage if they are seriously injured as hospitals all around the world are focusing primarily on COVID-19 cases.
