HMP inmate allegedly hospitalised for suspected poisoning

An inmate of Her Majesty's Prison (HMP) in Balsam Ghut, Tortola, was reportedly taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital for suspected poisoning.

Wakima Lettsome was on February 15, 2013, sentenced to 20 years in prison, after he was found guilty in the High Court of Wounding with Intent.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, Wakima Lettsome was found in a disoriented state yesterday, February 24, 2021, and was rushed to hospital.

Our newsroom was told by sources close to the situation that poisoning is being suspected.

The inmate was reportedly suffering from vomiting, severe abdominal pains, headache and uncontrollable bowel movement.

Reports are that Lettsome is now in stable condition at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Police are said to be investigating.
