Visits to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) in Balsam Ghut has been suspended until further notice. This is according to a Government-issued bulletin released earlier today, January 10.
It said: “The public is notified that due to the increase in
COVID-19 cases, His Excellency Governor
John Rankin and Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon. Carvin Malone, have agreed that there be a suspension of visitation to Her Majesty's Prison until further notice.”
The release added that the Government of
the Virgin Islands apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused.
Just Friday, Minister Malone announced that the BVI had 1,049 active, positive
COVID-19 cases.
