HoA continues today, Tuesday, August 30, 2022

The 6th Sitting of the 4th Session of the 4th House of Assembly (HoA) is scheduled to continue today Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10:00 am at Save the Seed Energy Centre, Duff's Bottom, on the main island of Tortola.

Law makers are expected to debate a motion on the Terms of Reference of the Constitutional Review Commission as set out by Cabinet and recommendations made by the Commission of Inquiry (CoI).

The coalition government of Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has announced it has accepted all the recommendations in the CoI Report.

Opposition Member and At Large Representative Hon Carvin Malone said last night, August 29, 2022, during an online interview, that he has amendments to the Terms of Reference, however, it’s unclear if they will be adopted.

Opposition Member and At Large Representative Hon Carvin Malone said last night, August 29, 2022, during an online interview, that he has amendments to the Terms of Reference, however, it’s unclear if they will be adopted.

There has been political sparring between Hon Malone, a former Minister for Health and Social Development under the Virgin Islands Party Government, and Premier Wheatley.

Hon Malone has labeled the formation of the coalition government “a coup for the lack of a better word” and Dr Wheatley has hit back saying he had the support of 3 out of 4 political parties in the HoA.

The sitting will be aired LIVE on House of Assembly VI Youtube; House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands Facebook; 780 AM ZBVI Radio; CBN-Radio (90.9 FM); FLOW TV Channel 101; and CCT TV Channel 291.
