HoA moving towards more technology & less paper

The Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA) is looking to implement more technology in its day-to-day business while using less paper.

That mission will be executed by a Special Select Committee

Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) during today’s Wednesday, November 25, 2020, Third Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly will more a motion for the establishment of the committee.

Special Select Committee to be established


According to the HoA Order Paper released this morning, the Special Select Committee will be made up of Seven Honourable Members and all others being Ex Officio Members and a Secretary.

These are Speaker Hon Julian Willock and Opposition Leader Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) serving as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the committee respectively.

Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL), Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL), Hon Neville A. Smith (AL) and Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) will all serve as Committee Member.

Ms Sandra I. Ward, Annabelle Skelton-Malone, Phyllis Evans and Khauesten Industrious will serve as Ex Officio members, while Mrs June Smith-Bramble will be the Secretary.

Other orders for the day include readings of the Data Protection Act, 2019 and the COVID-19 Control and Suppression (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2020.
