HoA to meet today Sept 27, 2022 with Opposition to ask questions!

The Seventh Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands will meet today Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duffs Bottom on the main Island of Tortola.

Opposition Member Hon Carvin Malone (AL) is to question the front bench Ministers about the Ellis Thomas Downs land dispute matter and about the status of the direct rule order at the privy council still over the Territory’s head.


Motions and Bills on agenda

There will also be two motions on the Order Paper one recognizing the service of the late legislator C. Lewis Walters and another to set up a HoA special select committee to follow up on the reform legislation pursuant to the Framework for Implementation of the Recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry’s Report.

The House sitting will also see the second and third readings of the Police Act 2019, Liquor Licences Act 201, Proceeds of Criminal Conduct (Amendment) Act 2022, and the Jury Act 2022.

At the end of the seventh sitting which can take up to two months if the Speaker Hon Corine N. George-Massicote does not accept another notice of absence by former Premier Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1), he will be forced to vacate his seat in the Legislative Chambers.
