Hon Fahie ‘sent word’ through source that ‘he was okay’– Hon Malone

Ex-Minster for Health and Social Development Hon Carvin Malone (AL) said he got word from the Ex-Premier, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) that he was "okay".

When pressed on whether he has spoken to the Premier during a press conference on June 15, 2022, the former minister added, “I didn’t have the opportunity as yet. I got word that he sent to make sure that I was informed, that he inquired about me, and that he wanted to just let me know that he was okay.”

Hon Malone reiterated, “I have not had the opportunity to speak with him directly, but he sent word.”

Meanwhile, the former Minister assured that his decision to cross the floor into the Opposition and out of the Unity Government back benches had nothing to do with the ex-premier Fahie.

When pressed on whether he has spoken to the Premier during a press conference yesterday, June 15, 2022, the former minister added, 'I didn’t have the opportunity as yet, I got word that he sent to make sure that I was informed, that he inquired about me, and that he wanted to just let me know that he was okay.'

Loyalty remains to VI - Hon Malone

“My Loyalty is to the People of the Virgin Islands. My loyalty has always been that. I was president of the Virgin Islands party since 1999. We were founded back in 1971. We made sure that at the end of the day, people were the centre of the Virgin Islands Party. When we amended the constitution in 2000 and in 2006, people first were always the center of this,” Hon Malone detailed.

“My loyalty remained because I had the opportunity, the golden opportunity… to work with the late great Hamilton Lavity Stoutt... I had the opportunity to work with Ralph O’Neal, he passed. I had the opportunity to work with Honourable Julian Fraser, I had the opportunity to work with Honourable Andrew Fahie,” he added.

Hon Malone said at the end of the day, his the loyalty has always been to the people of the Virgin Islands.

He said for persons who has been following him for the past 8-10 years, it has always been a concern for him to see not just the VI, but other British OT's constant direct outside attack, especially against the financial services sector.

Hon Malone also assured that even though he is now in the Opposition he will continue to oversee the First District in the absence of Hon Fahie.
