Hundreds turn out for SDA March against Gun Violence

The beating of drums and the singing of hundreds who participated in the Seventh-day Adventist Church's Street March of Witness against Gun Violence in the Virgin Islands could be seen and heard along the streets of Road Town on April 9, 2022.

The march was led by the church's uniform bodies that included Master Guides, Pathfinders and Adventurers and made its way from Festival Grounds to De Castro Street, Admin Drive, Waterfront Drive, Pickering Road, Long Bush, Huntums Ghut and Station Road before ending at Festival Grounds.

MALE supported march

Among the procession was a non-affiliated group, Mentoring Anionted Leaders Everywhere (MALE).

"The reason why MALE decided to join with the Adventist Church on this day is because we are losing too many of our young men and one is too much. We have boys who are losing their fathers and we can't afford that, so we decided to take a stand with the Adventist Church and come out against violence," MALE President Henderson K. Tittle stated.

He went on to say, "Enough is enough, we can't afford to be losing our young men because of someone who doesn't want to put the guns down, put the guns down, enough is enough. It's time for us to live as one, it's time for us to unite, it's time for us to be our brothers' keepers. How much longer will we fight against each other and kill each other? Mr Tittle rhetorically asked.

Mr Tittle further encouraged parents to speak to their children about not resorting to violence during disagreements, adding that love is the answer.

Hope Beyond Series @ Festival Grounds

The march, which was also used to announce a 3-week evangelistic series dubbed Hope Beyond starting April 15, 2022, endured frequent downpours but they persisted to the end.

Hope Beyond with Pastor Samuel Telemaque will be held at Festival Grounds.

Advent Heartbeats provided the drumming for the March of Witness against Gun Violence in the Virgin Islands.

The March of Witness against Gun Violence was held April 9, 2022, in Road Town was well supported.
