Hypertension Workshop To Target Health Professionals

Local healthcare professionals are to be trained on the latest hypertension treatment guidelines in a workshop next week.
The workshop titled, “Beating the silent killer-prescribing the new international pharmacotherapy for hypertension” will be held on Thursday September 23 via zoom.

According to the Health Ministry, the session will target health professionals including doctors, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainees, laboratory and medical imaging professionals and any other interested professions.

Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs. Gracia Wheatley- Smith said hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease that is claiming lives of people locally and worldwide, and it is very important for medical professionals to be apprised of the latest techniques, education and technology that is available to treat the disease.

“We are so excited to host this meeting,” the Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services said, adding, “We want the medical professionals to know that CME hours will be awarded upon completion and participants can expect a very interactive session with quizzes, a post test and a workshop manual as part of the session,” she said.

The workshop will be facilitated by Consultant, Regional and International Speaker on Pharmaceuticals and former Head of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, Pharmaceutical Procurement Service, Mr. Francis Burnett.
