Premier Natalio Wheatley Responds to "Accidental Premier" Criticism, Emphasizes Purpose and Destiny

Premier Natalio Wheatley has responded to those who referred to him as "the accidental Premier" during the recent elections.
Despite the criticism, he remains focused on his purpose and destiny as a leader among his people.

Wheatley became the Premier following the arrest of Deputy Premier Andrew Fahie on drug-related charges in the US.

Although he wasn't appointed to the position after an election, he assumed the role and became the youngest Premier in Virgin Islands history.

However, some members of the community questioned his right to be the Premier, as he didn't earn the position through a vote.

Nevertheless, all of that changed in April when the VIP won the most seats in the general election and Dr. Wheatley was named Premier once again after the VIP formed a coalition government with Lorna Smith.

In his recent statement, Wheatley emphasized that his life is based on a purpose and that he has been given gifts by the creator of the universe, including intellect and a compassionate heart for the people.

He added that the creator knew him before he was born and had plans for him.

"It is in striking contrast to the fundamental conviction of my life — my life is based on a purpose," said Premier Wheatley.

"The creator of the universe knew me before I was in my mother’s womb.

The creator has plans for me.

He gave me gifts, intellect, a compassionate heart for the people and gave me the opportunity to serve my people." Despite the criticism he has faced, Wheatley remains steadfast in his belief that he was called to be a leader and will continue to serve his people to the best of his abilities.
