'I'm not into mudslinging but will respond to untruths'- Premier Wheatley

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has said while he is not into mudslinging, he will surely respond to untruths spoken about himself or the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

The Premier and VIP Chairman was at the time speaking at the VIP’s official campaign launch to endorse former Financial Secretary in the Virgin Islands, Mr L. Allen Wheatley in the Eighth District on March 23, 2023.

Unanswered lies become truth- Premier

“I want everyone out there to understand that in politics, you have to answer, because if you don’t answer, some of the lies which are told become the truth. They say don’t get into ‘tit for tat’. If you say anything about me or my Party that’s not true, I’m just letting you know I am going to respond,” Dr Wheatley noted.

He added that it is not only about this but pointed out that people are correct when they say that you should say what you are going to do and what you have done.

Premier Wheatley had called for a clean political campaign; however, all parties have since been hitting each other for political points.
The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) is to release a list of 100 significant accomplishments since it was elected in 2019.

100 significant VIP accomplishments list

Meanwhile, Dr Wheatley indicated the VIP will soon be releasing an accomplishment list alongside its manifesto.

“I am about to loose one hundred significant accomplishments that the VIP had during this four-year term. I’m not gonna do it right now but we are about to loose one hundred significant VIP accomplishments.

"So we will defend our record and we will soon be releasing our manifesto and we’re gonna tell you what we’re gonna be doing for the next four years,” the Premier stated.
