Fifth District Candidate under the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) Marvin E. Blyden aka 'MB' has launched his 2023 elections campaign, urging the people of the Fifth Electoral District to elect him for improvements in areas such as water and infrastructure.
Speaking at his April 5, 2023, campaign launch at The Boys Gas Station in Huntums Ghut, Tortola, Mr Blyden said while he has had confidence in previous representatives, now is a time for a change in the Virgin Islands and the district.
“So what took me so long? The answer is simple. I had confidence and some result from previous candidates, result that not only benefited the people of the 5th District but also benefited the territory locally, regionally and internationally.
“To answer the question of why now, I will just say for now that our country is at a crossroads, and we need a team to make advancement for the benefit and interest of the residents of the 5th District and territory-wide.”
Meanwhile, Mr Blyden said he plans to remedy some of the woes in the district and territory including that of water, roads and infrastructure, which would bring an end to the dodging of potholes in the District.

Big plans for VI & District
Mr Blyden also pushed plans for road safety, economic development, social services, cost of living support, sports, and community and youth development that are needed in the district and the VI.
He added that his experience as an entrepreneur is also one that will ensure government sectors are profitable rather than operating at a deficit. “Please, residents and supporters who are within the sound of my voice, I am telling you tonight, if you elect me, you will be in good hands,” he said.
Mr Blyden added that there are needs for solutions in the VI which he and the PVIM will be able to provide once elected.
The incumbent Representative is Deputy Premier and Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer of
