In-Transit Lounge Operational

In-Transit Lounge Operational

The BVI Airport Authority (BVIAA) officially launched the opening of its In-Transit Lounge at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island on Saturday February 1, 2020, for air passengers who are transiting through the airport to catch connecting flights to their final destination in other countries.
The BVIAA will earn revenue from the lounge as a $10 levy will be charged to the transiting passengers.

Junior Minister for Tourism, Hon. Sharie de Castro led the opening on behalf of the Premier and Minister of Finance Hon. Andrew Fahie, who is also the Minister responsible for the BVIAA.

The Junior Minister spoke to the significance of the BVIAA’s initiative to the BVI economy and expressed that the opening of the in-transit lounge speaks to tourism development and that innovation is alive in the BVI.

Acting Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority, Mr. Clive Smith spoke about how passengers will be processed through the in-transit lounge.

Premier Fahie previously stated that, expanding and upgrading of the airport will take time and money.

"So, in the meantime, we have to use what we have and make the most of it. This is a classic example of making maximum use of what we already have, and for this initiative the Board and management of the BVIAA must be commended," Premier Fahie said.
