Individual hospitalised with COVID-19 dies

An individual, who was among the eight persons listed by the Ministry of Health and Social Development as being hospitalised with COVID-19, has died.

According to reports, the individual passed away this morning, July 8, 2021.

This information was confirmed by senior medical officials at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

While the now-deceased patient may have had other health issues, our news centre was informed that they had experienced challenges breathing following the COVID-19 diagnosis.

While VINO has the name of the deceased, we will respectfully allow all next of kin to be properly notified, including extended family and friends, before publishing.

Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) conveys sincere condolences to the immediate family and asks the public to remember them in their prayers.

So far, the government has classified only one death in the VI as COVID-19 related.

While the now-deceased patient may have had other health issues, our news centre was informed that they had experienced challenges breathing following the COVID-19 diagnosis.
