Inmate hospitalised after being beaten by other prisoners

BVI News understands that an inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison was hospitalised at the weekend after he was beaten by several inmates in his holding cell.
The inmate allegedly suffered head wounds and had blood streaming from the side of his head when he arrived at hospital.

It’s alleged that the victim – a new inmate – was approached by one of the prisoners in his cell.

The prisoner began to question the new inmate and allegedly threatened to hurt the victim unless he agreed to start smuggling illegal substances into the prison.

Our news centre understands that the seasoned inmate soon attacked the victim, hurling kicks and punches all over his body.

It’s understood that other inmates in the cell joined the fight, kicking and punching the new victim.

It’s unclear how the fight ended but the victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated.

BVI News hasn’t been able to ascertain whether the alleged attackers will be charged for the assault.
