International Women's Day: VIP honours Digital Creator Kyra J. James

On the occasion of International Women’s Day being observed today, March 8, 2023, the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has recognised the accomplishments of Kyra J. James, creator of the popular video blog 'Kickin’ it with Kyra'.

'Trailblazer'

In a social media post via its Facebook page, the Party said James’ digital production platform, where she posts positive videos about life in the Virgin Islands, has attracted thousands of followers and is committed to amplifying the voices of young Virgin Islanders who are often overlooked.

This, the Party noted has made her a true trailblazer and a source of inspiration for women everywhere.

The VIP urged that as Women's History Month is celebrated throughout the month of March, may we remember the countless other women who are also breaking barriers and making their mark in the world.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5), has saluted all women in the Virgin Islands on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Let's work towards more Equity for women- VIP

“This Women's History Month, let's not only celebrate the achievements of women, but let's also work towards a more equitable and just society where women can thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we can continue to push for progress and inspire future generations of women to break barriers and shatter glass ceilings.

“Join us in celebrating Kyra James and all the other remarkable women within our community who are making a difference. Let's continue to uplift and support one another as we strive towards a brighter and more inclusive future for all”, the Party said.

James was also described as a champion for culture and creativity in the Virgin Islands.

VIP is gender inclusive- Kye M. Rymer

On March 7, 2023, on the VIP Let’s Talk show on ZBVI 780 AM, Deputy Premier Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) reiterated that the Party is gender inclusive, as its President and Vice President are both women.

“Women are important to us on a whole…We celebrate them…Most definitely, us men, we should take that extra time to make sure we show our appreciation for the women in our lives and in the community as well… On behalf of the government, I salute all women…” Hon Rymer said.

Only about a month ago, the VIP elected Sharia B. de Castro as President and Zoe J. Walcott as its Vice President- a first in its 52 years as a political Party.
