Iranian TV Journalist Stabbed Outside Home In London
Pouria Zeraati, a UK-based Iranian journalist working for Iran International, was stabbed outside his London home but is currently in stable condition.
The attack prompted a counter-terrorism investigation by London's Metropolitan Police due to previous threats from Iran against journalists in Britain. Despite the unclear motive, the police are considering Zeraati's role as a journalist.
Iran's UK charge d'affaires denied any involvement in the incident. The attack follows threats from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps against journalists at Iran International and BBC Persian.
An Austrian national was recently convicted for possibly planning an attack on Iran International, which Iran has labeled a terrorist organization following its coverage of protests in Iran. The UK has imposed sanctions on Iran for alleged human rights violations and hostile activities on UK soil.
