K&C Construction awarded over $800K in gov’t contracts since 2021

Local firm K&C Construction has been awarded a contract for the construction of a public restroom facility at Brewers Bay Beach, making this at least the fourth such government contract received since the start of the year.
This latest project is valued at exactly $124,258.70, bringing the combined total value of these contracts since 2021 to more than $800,000.

K&C Constructions, owned by Kendol Arthur and Colene Penn, was awarded the contract through Cabinet on the recommendation of the Central Tenders Board’s technical committee on August 24.

Back in February, Cabinet had also awarded the construction firm two contracts to construct two new social homes — one in Sea Cow’s Bay, Tortola and the other in White Bay on Jost Van Dyke.

Those were valued at $194,341.40 and $177,408, respectively.

Prior to those two contracts, the company was contracted to perform repair works valued $331,862.53 at the Attorney General’s residence in McNamara.

The residence had sustained serious damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017. The repair to the AG’s residence was a part of a series of projects under the Recovery & Development Agency (RDA) which the government said would boost a shaky economy by hiring local contractors. Penn is employed with the RDA.
