Kadeem S. Maynard aka ‘Blacka’ to change plea to guilty

Kadeem S. Maynard aka ‘Blacka’, who was arrested along with ex-Premier Andrew A. Fahie and former BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) Managing Director Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard on April 28, 2022, on drug and money laundering charges, has reportedly indicated in a US court he will be changing his plea to guilty.

Maynard, 31, is charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance (cocaine), conspiracy to engage in money laundering, and attempted money laundering.

The accused, who is the son of Pickering-Maynard, told a Florida court on Monday, May 22, 2023, he plans to formally change his plea to guilty on June 12, 2023.

Federal prosecutors have until June 10 to notify the Miami court of their sentencing recommendations, according to court documents. Maynard’s trial by jury has been canceled.

Mr Fahie and Pickering Maynard were previously charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance (cocaine), conspiracy to engage in money laundering, attempted money laundering, and foreign travel in aid of racketeering.

Mr Fahie, is out on bail, although largely confined to his daughters’ apartment. The Maynards are being held in jail, as they did not seek bail.
