Kristin Cabot resigns from Astronomer following viral video incident with CEO Andy Byron.
Kristin Cabot, the Human Resources Executive of the New York-based tech company Astronomer, has resigned, as confirmed by the company this week.
Her resignation follows a viral incident where she and CEO Andy Byron were captured on camera embracing during a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.
Byron had resigned from his position the previous week after being suspended by the company's board.
Cabot and Byron, who are not spouses of each other, were seen on large screens at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, known colloquially as the 'kissing cam,' during the band's performance.
The two were observed hugging before they attempted to move away from the camera's view.
Coldplay's lead singer, Chris Martin, commented during the concert, saying, 'Wow, look at those two.
Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy.' Shortly after, the video of the couple spread rapidly across social media platforms.
In a statement, Astronomer emphasized its commitment to the values established since its inception.
The company expects its leaders to set a standard for behavior and accountability.
Amid the fallout from the incident, Astronomer stated that its mission would continue to focus on data problems and artificial intelligence.
Established in 2018, Astronomer noted that awareness of the company changed overnight due to the incident.
Following Cabot's resignation, Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, will serve as interim CEO.
Byron's LinkedIn profile has been made private and he has been removed from the company's leadership page, which now lists DeJoy as the acting CEO.
