Labour has committed to creating more than 100,000 new nursery places for children from nine months old to primary school age.
This ambitious plan aims to establish 3,334 new nurseries within existing primary schools across England, addressing the high costs and shortages in the current childcare system.
The initiative forms part of Labour's broader manifesto and includes converting underused primary school classrooms at an estimated cost of one hundred forty million pounds, funded by levying VAT on private school fees.
The manifesto, set to be unveiled by Keir Starmer, also includes provisions for transforming local childcare landscapes, significantly easing the burden on parents, particularly working mothers, and enabling them to rejoin the workforce.
