Lady Kitty Spencer Weds in Rome Wearing Multiple Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Gowns

Lady Kitty Spencer Weds in Rome Wearing Multiple Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Gowns

Princess Diana’s niece got married in high style this weekend in Rome.

While multiple wedding dresses have been the trend du jour for several years now, Lady Kitty Spencer took it to a sensational, stunning level for her wedding to financier Michael Lewis, wearing several gowns made by Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda. “Kitty Spencer chose to wear Dolce & Gabbana on the most important day of her life,” the Italian fashion house confirmed yesterday on Instagram. For this unique event, [Dolce & Gabbana] created a number of exclusive hand-made gowns, each celebrating the beauty of the bride.”

The most traditional of the looks was a Victorian-inspired lace bridal gown, featuring an illusion neckline, full length sleeves, a fitted bodice, and a train, all accompanied by an embroidered veil. Immediately, comparisons arose between Spencer and her cousin-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Princess Grace of Monaco, who both opted for chic yet conservative looks for their wedding day.

Yet Spencer, a Dolce & Gabbana global ambassador and Princess Diana’s niece, wore a number of high-fashion looks over the course of her wedding weekend-many of them which were colorful rather than just white. On Friday, her gown was a baby-blue tulle gown and cape embroidered with flowers, accompanied by a playful pink flower in Spencer’s hair as well as stunning jewels. After the ceremony for dinner on Saturday, she switched into an off-the-shoulder hand-painted silk gown embellished with roses, followed by a gold-and-silver beaded creation for dancing. On Sunday, she donned a Mikado silk gown adorned with applique flowers and double duchesse ribbons. “One of the inspirations is definitely her love for Italy. Kitty is in love with our beautiful country and its rich history, art and culture,” Domenico Dolce told Tatler. “But she is also a girl who is very attached to her origins, to England; to her heritage of the great Victorian era. And like all the English people, she has a great passion for all kinds of flowers,” added Stefano Gabbana.

The wedding took place at Villa Aldobrandini, a stately, Italian Baroque estate with expansive papal gardens that overlooks the city of Rome. English aristocrats, such as Kitty’s sisters Lady Amelia and Eliza, as well celebrities like Idris Elba, were reported to be in attendance.
