Lava spewing from Iceland volcano captured in spectacular drone footage

Lava continued flowing on Saturday from a volcano near Mount Fagradalsfjall in the Reykjanes Peninsula which erupted following weeks of seismic activity. Drone footage captured spectacular images showing lava gushing from the volcano situated near the capital Reykjavik.
Inbound and outgoing air traffic has consequently been halted from Keflavik International Airport, as the volcano is located 40 kilometres (25 miles) away from Reykjavik.

The eruption had been anticipated as at least 40,000 earthquakes were recorded since February 24. According to reports, the volcano was dormant for 6,000 years and no eruption was recorded in the Reykjanes Peninsula in 781 years.
