Loaded firearm recovered, 2 arrested following Fish Bay shooting

A loaded firearm and ammunition were recovered and two persons arrested after ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) carried out a search warrant on a property on Tortola, yesterday, March 16, 2021.

However, while the RVIPF in a statement today, March 17, 2021, said evidence indicates that a high-powered weapon was used in the shooting incident at Fish Bay yesterday, March 16, 2021, it did not state whether the weapon recovered yesterday was ‘high-powered’.

The shooting at Fish Bay left Deverson Williams, 38, a native of St Vincent and Long Trench resident, dead.

Nearby vehicles & building were damaged in shooting


Police said the victim’s vehicle, nearby vehicles and the International Motors building also sustained damage.

“Following the incident, a search warrant was carried out on a property on Tortola which resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm and ammunition. Two persons were arrested as a result,” the RVIPF has stated.

It further said police are presently working on several leads; however, witnesses into yesterday’s incident or anyone with information are encouraged to contact the Major Crime Team directly at 368-5682 or Inspector Vernon Larocque at 368-9809.
