A loaded firearm has been taken off the streets of the Virgin Islands, thanks to persistence of officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), who were responding to reports of someone carrying a firearm in the area of Road Town referred to as ‘The Ghetto’.
According to reports reaching our newsroom, it was shortly after the curfew began last night, September 29, 2020, when police received reports from concerned persons that a man, armed with a gun, was acting suspiciously.
It is alleged that when police arrived at a bar several persons were there socialising. They were all searched by the officers; however, nothing illegal was found.
Police, nevertheless, persisted with their search and allegedly recovered a Millennium Taurus firearm loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition from a room.
It is our information that no one has so far been held for the gun and ammo find.
