Lone COVID-19 positive person in VI recovers

The Virgin Islands (VI) is once again with zero recorded cases of COVID-19, as the lone infected person has since recovered.

According to the latest update from Government on March 11, 2021, some 26,237 samples from 25,125 persons have been tested for the virus at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital Laboratory, up from 24,597 samples from 24, 487 at the last update on March 1, 2021.

The VI has so far recorded 154 positive cases of COVID-19, with 153 recoveries and 1 death.

Suppression measures working!


Despite criticisms from some quarters on the COVID-19 suppression measures put in place by Government, the Virgin Islands continues to effectively manage its COVID-19 situation while gradually reopening its borders and easing internal restrictions.

The vaccination of persons with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is also expected to quicken the return to normalcy in the VI.
