Luce D. Hodge-Smith distributes some 300 school supply kits in District 4

A back-to-school drive hosted by Luce D. Hodge-Smith in the Fourth District was well received by students and parents, Mrs Smith has told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO).

The drive, which was able to provide school supplies in the areas of Long Bush and Lowest Estate, took the form of a house-to-house distribution where children were provided with bags filled with school supplies including books, pencils, face masks, rulers, sharpeners, face masks, and hand sanitisers.

"The response was great, they were very appreciative. We tried to reach as many students as I possibly could reach so it was over 300 actually," she said.

Mrs Hodge-Smith said the drive was not only to help the students but to do her part in staying connected with the district and its needs.

In addition to the school supplies, students also received a personalized message via a card that encouraged them to stay focused, study hard, and complete their homework in addition to having a successful 2021/2021 school term.

Mrs Hodge-Smith related that drive was not only to help the students but to do her part in staying connected with the district and its needs.

"It was well-received", she further told VINO while thanking her contributors for stepping forward and doing their part to make the programme a success.

Some of the companies who supported included Bazz Natural Juices, Manuel Reef Marina, Bobby's Marketplace, Pooky's Customs Unlimited, Dareo's Jerk Centre, and Deputy Speaker Hon Neville A. Smtih (AL).

In addition to the school supplies, students also received a personalised message via a greeting card with sponsors that encouraged them to stay focused, study hard, and complete their homework.

To top it off, they were given well wishes for a successful 2021/2021 school term.
