Man arrested for writing nearly $30K in stolen cheques
A Baughers Bay man has been arrested on suspicion of obtaining property by deception for his involvement in a scheme that defrauded an unsuspecting resident of nearly $30,000.
BVI News understands that the man, whose name our news centre cannot yet verify, is a national of St Kitts.
It is understood that he gained access to the victim’s chequebook, which reportedly contained a some pre-signed cheques.
It is reported that the accused man then used those cheques to write a number of bank orders to his benefit.
Our news centre understands that he obtained the cheque book when he or an associate had access to the victim’s home to complete a job.
It is not yet clear whether he has been officially charged.
